The app for booking your next tattoo artist
My role as a Visual / UX Designer for this project was to create an app geared towards a specific area of interest or audience. I chose to create an app for people wanting to get tattooed.
From ideation to completion, I sketched out ideas, conducted several rounds of user research, drafted wireframes and created high-fidelity mockups.
My solution was ONPOINT: an app for searching out the rawest tattoo artists in the area, finding your perfect style, and being able to contact and book an appointment with your selected artist, all from the convenience of your phone.
Research included conversations with several people — some of them tattoo artists — to gain some perspective on their expectations, as well as the people who will be using the app to find and book their next tattoo appointment. From that I determined the problems that needed to be addressed.
The following interviews were instructive for understanding what I was designing and developing based on who would be using it. Each interviewee had their own individual motivations or needs that were to be addressed in the app's design. Key insights were collected, posted and incorporated into design process.
Problems
Not being able to find the right tattoo shop/artist
Not being able to contact or communicate with artist for sharing your ideas
No Call/No Show appointments
Not being able to know an artist's rating/reviews
Not being able to see an artist's past work
Not knowing which style is right for you
Assumptions
Have a Message & Call functionality within app
Include a digital gallery so tattoo artists can showcase their best work
5-Star rating & review system

Implement a Cancellation Policy in order to reduce No Call/No Show appointments

Findings
People get tattoos for sometimes trivial but often very sentimental purposes, so being able to find the right tattoo artist with the right style is of top importance to the user
Users like being able to browse through different categories/styles of tattoos
“Cleanliness” needs to be added to the criteria for rating their tattoo shop experience
Visible cancellation policy that is made known while booking your appointment was appreciated by the artists
